General Uses
For the most part, the firefly mastery is mainly utility and trends towards a style of play where you try and create as many burning cells as possible since you aren't hurt by them. Ordinarily, this is done by creating flares to clear hidden cells faster.

Technique: Hidden Burning Cells
Burning cells can never have monsters in them. Because of this, you may be able to quickly another open area if you open hidden burning cells. It's a minor benefit but it can sometimes be useful, but it's good to remember that all hidden burning cells are safe clicks.

Uses for your Mastery Ability
Your mastery ability can either be used to solve unsolvable patterns by just burning through it with flares or to nearly finish an entire stage fairly quickly by just burning the whole stage once there are enough burning cells to spawn flares from.
The Snowflake Mastery is focused on freezing cells.

General Uses
The main benefit of Snowflake is that, baring stage mods, at least 3 50-50s per stage can be solved without guessing. Because of this, the mastery is surprisingly reliable once a player is aware of how to do that. Even under perfect conditions you still need to be careful when and how you freeze cells however as you can make a wall of flagged monsters and ice that will block off information and force yourself to need to guess again.
f
f
1

|description=If you froze the monster then the total monster count would go down by one to 9 and now you know that the other cell is safe. This is because frozen monsters don't count towards the total monster count.
}}

How many you can solve on one stage is based on how many frozen cells there are on the current stage, how many stage mods there are and if you can remove any frozen cells. Every stage mod increases this limit of frozen cells by 1 allowing you to solve more. That being said, stage mods like Nightmare that prevents you from being able to freeze, Uncharted that makes freezing mostly useless, Judging that makes flagging empty cells hurt you, or frozen and elemental stages that start you off over your limit for freezing cells make the strategy less effective.

Generally, the best time to solve 50-50s with the snowflake's ability is when there's no other way to solve that 50-50 such as at the end of the level when there's no more useful information to work off of.

Techniques: Freezing with no monster count
Outside of solving 50-50s the ability to freeze cells also lets you ignore certain cells entirely. If you can't see the monster count then simply freezing both cells in a 50-50 is also a way to solve it.

Uses for your Mastery Ability
The Snowflake's mastery ability explodes all of the frozen cells on the stage and has 2 main uses. The first use that it has is that you can make frustrating stages with stage mods that create a lot of frozen cells such as Frozen and Elemental a lot easier by just blowing up all the frozen cells and the whole stage along with it. The second use is that you can use the explosion to get rid of strangers such as harbingers and bagmen along with even bosses leaving you with a much easier stage. Simply freeze a cell next to whoever you're trying to explode if/when they're not out in the open and then use your mastery ability.

Changelog
*1.50 Snowflake I now operates on left-clicking flagged cells (was "If there are fewer than 3 frozen cells, attempting to unflag a cell will freeze it instead.")

Uses for your Mastery Abililty
Your mastery ability can either be used to solve unsolvable patterns by just burning through it with flares or to nearly finish an entire stage fairly quickly by just burning the whole stage once there are enough burning cells to spawn flares from.

Chains are built up by pressing/clicking on cells on the same value in repeated succession. This can be when opening cells or when chording. Picking up items does not affect your chain in any way. A chain's value is simply which value cell you're clicking, the chain length is how many of that value cell you've clicked on, and the chain sum is the number you get when you add all the values you clicked on in the chain.

General Uses
The marksman plays extraordinarily different from the base game and can essentially kill almost every single monster on the stage if you play off chains with a value of 1. The marksman is great at killing enemies but generally plays fairly slow if you want to maximize effectiveness. Most of the marksman's gameplay revolves around the 2nd passive ability with the mastery and 1 passive ability acting as padding. Anything that activates a penalty on mistake, a penalty on monster reveal, or a limitation on flagging will almost stop this mastery dead in its tracks. This is because its main gimmick is technically you constantly making mistakes, revealing monsters to kill them, and relying on the ability to over flag/flag empty cells.

Techniques: Building up chains
f
f

|description=You simply unflag each over flagged that you know is safe one by one and chord the number you're trying to chain. In this case the 1 in the center.
}}

We can continue doing this until no safe cell are left which will maximize how many chains we'll get. You just have to make sure that you only open or chord cells that you know are the same value that your chain is. In this case, we'd end up with a value one chain with a sum of 5. This is mainly useful to know before you're chain's sum is greater than the max stage power.

Techniques: Keeping Your Chain When Killing
The core of this technique is that the value it uses to add to your chain is the one after the monster is killed. This mixed with chording allows for the ability to clear almost all of a board of monsters.

Diagram

Here's another scenario...

Every time you do this it counts as a mistake and reveals a monster so be careful of doing this in the wrong stage. The goal is to eliminate exactly the amount of monsters that are needed to bring the cell we're chording down to the value of our chain so we can keep it and do this technique again immediately after.

Techniques: Value Reduction and Clearing Boards
Value 1 chains are the most effective at clearing the board if you can get over the threshold of the max stage power. Using the chording killing technique above you can essentially continue this for nearly the whole stage by constantly trying to reduce the 2s, 3s, and 4s down to 1s by specifically targeting the monsters that make them too big for you to kill them without losing your chain. You can always reduce something down to a 1 with the above technique but can never bring 1s up to 2s with it so you'll generally have more options building up value 1 chains. Lets use an example with a 4 we're trying to reduce down.
|description=We then clean up the cells we flagged for chording that don't have any monsters and can continue solving the board from there. In this case, we can even use the marksman ability to now solve the 2 that was once a 4.
}}

With the reduction technique, you can strategically widdle down numbers to be easily dealt with and kill monsters. You are generally going to be using the chording trick on 2 and 3 value cells since they're the easiest to kill enough monsters to have it be a 1 after the chord. You can't entirely clear a board with this technique but you are generally left with 3-6 cells at the end of the stage. This is VERY time-consuming.

Uses for your Mastery Ability
You don't get any bonus for having a ridiculously high chain so this ability is mostly useless apart from a few scenarios. The main one being if you don't have enough cells to start building up your chain again to above the max stage power. You get a chain going to about half power or slightly greater then use this to allow yourself to use the second passive ability again.

General Uses
The spy is one of the more complex classes as it makes heavy use of gleaning, chording 4+ tiles and utilizing over-flagging and chording making it quite the reliable mastery simply by having a lot more information to work off of. Because of this, it's much rarer to have to guess as spy.

Techniques: Gleaned Zeros
Due to Spy I gleaning 10 random cells on the board, often times you tend to get around 1 or 2 gleaned zeros on a stage. Because of this, you can generally just click all around the zero and may find a new open space from it to work off of.

|description=The zero in the middle may or may not be a monster. Glean only tells you about what's around it.
}}

Techniques: False-flagging
As a spy optimal play generally involved chording every 4 or greater tile that you can see and always looking for opportunities to. Simply chording a 4 will glean all of the cells that were flagged. That in and of itself is fairly powerful but what pushes spy to be an extremely reliable class is that all that's needed for the ability to proc is for you to chord and reveal at least 1 cell. Here's an example.

From there you can work off of what's left with the new information. It should be stressed again though that this technique works with 5's, 6's and 7's as well. It also procs if you incorrectly chord a 4 or greater. Sometimes doing this just wastes a bit of time since you could solve it normally and the gleans just happened to not help in this case, but other times it can mean you solve a stage without guessing. There are so many ways it can work out and it's extraordinarily useful knowing how to see how glean relates to other patterns.

Uses for your Mastery Ability
Generally, this mastery ability's only specific use is revealing info of things that happen to be around a glean and that can help you if you. It can also be used to speed up how fast you can complete a stage especially with items like walking stick since it has the potential to reveal more zeros and, by extension, the potential to reveal more open areas to work off of. Spy is much more geared around its 2nd passive ability rather than its mastery ability.

Uses for your Mastery Abililty
Your mastery ability can either be used to solve unsolvable patterns by just burning through it with flares or to nearly finish an entire stage fairly quickly by just burning the whole stage once there are enough burning cells to spawn flares from.

The Scholar Mastery is focused on using the Quest For Quests to create helpful Status Effects.

General Uses
Starting with a quest for quest makes the scholar mastery very hit or miss as one of the main benefits of scholar how much it can snowball out of control. Every quest for quest has the potential to give you another 2 quest for quests so with a bit of luck you can end up getting 4 or 5 useful quests out of it. Most of the time, however, you tend to get around 2 or 3 quests that have other effects for a run out of quest for quest. The worst quest to get is generally quest for piety because, although it can be useful for getting rid of omens, its effect happens 100 turns from when you use the item and you generally never need more than 1. All of the other quests generally also are more useful either by means of survivability or utility with the quest for riches. Items like leftovers also synergize with scholar mainly due to them almost always having some status effect to keep going and because every completed status effect heals you as a scholar.

Technique: Toxic
Stage mods with toxic are not an issue for scholar mainly because you can't generally be killed by poison as a scholar. You take damage and instantly heal and even if you have 2 health and 20 poison omens that all go off at once you won't die because it does each instance individually as opposed to all at once. Because of this, the poison omen isn't actually a bad omen for them. It's if anything just a neutral omen that you can fill your inventory with entirely to prevent yourself from picking up new items if you have a good run or are something to base your run around with items that work off of omens such as the Cauldron, the Hellstone_Chestplate, or the Scythe.

Uses for your Mastery Ability
Completing all of your current status effects mainly works as a bit of a healing potion but also has uses in completing status effects early so that you have more options to work with by having access to resources earlier than you normally would.

The Spy Mastery is focused on gleaning cells by chording on a tile with a 4 or greater.

}}

Techniques: Large Numbers and Over-flagging
As a spy optimal play generally involved chording every 4 or greater tile that you can see and always looking for opportunities to. Simply chording a 4 will glean all of the cells that were flagged. That in and of itself is fairly powerful but what pushes spy to be an extremely reliable class is that all that's needed for the ability to proc is for you to chord and reveal at least 1 cell. Here's an example.

1

|description=If you froze the monster then the total monster count would go down by one to 9 and now you know that the other cell is safe. This is because frozen monsters don't count towards the total monster count.
}}

How many you can solve on one stage is based on how many frozen cells there are on the current stage, how mant stage mods there are and if you can remove any frozen cells.

Mastery is focused on gleaning cells by chording on a tile with a 4 or greater.

}}

Mastery is focused on freezing cells.

1

|description=If you froze the monster then the total monster count would go down by one to 9 and now you know that the other cell is safe. This is because frozen monsters don't count towards the total monster count.
}}

How many you can solve on one stage is based on how many frozen cells there are on the current stage, how mant stage mods there are and if you can remove any frozen cells.

How many you can solve on one stage is based on how many frozen cells there are on the current stage, how mant stage mods there are and if you can remove any frozen cells.

The first use that it has is that you can make frustrating stages with stage mods that create a lot of frozen cells such as Frozen and Elemental a lot easier by just blowing up all the frozen cells and the whole stage along with it. The second use is that you can use the explosion to get rid of strangers such as harbingers and bagmen along with even bosses leaving you with a much easier stage. Simply freeze a cell next to whoever you're trying to explode when if they're not out in the open and then use your mastery ability.

Because of this, the mastery is surprisingly reliable once a player is aware of how to do that. Even under perfect conditions you still need to be careful when and how you freeze cells however as you can make a wall of flagged monsters and ice that will block off information and force yourself to need to guess again.
How many you can solve is based on how many frozen cells are on the current stage so if you can lower it then you can solve another 50-50.

Let's say that you have a 50-50 where 1 monster is in either of 2 cells and there are 10 total monsters on the monster count. If you flag and then unflag one of the two cells to freeze it. If you froze the monster then the total monster count would go down by one to 9 and now you know that the other cell is safe. This is because frozen monsters don't count towards the total monster count. If the total monster count was still at 10 then you froze and empty cell and the other cell has a monster.

Generally, the best time to solve 50-50s with the snowflake's ability is when there's no other way to solve that 50-50 such as at the end of the level when there's no more useful information to work off of.
The first of which is that you can make frustrating stages with stage mods that create a lot of frozen cells such as Frozen and Elemental a lot easier by just blowing up all the frozen cells and the whole stage along with it. The second benefit is that you can use the explosion to get rid of the boss leaving you with a much easier stage.
Orbs will slowly move around the screen, bouncing when they reach the edge. They can be interacted with by left-clicking on them. Orbs will remain on screen until they are interacted with, persisting across stages and even into menus and shops. They come in two types.

Canker
Cankers are bad orbs, black with red detailing. A canker will remove one life from the player when clicked on. Cankers will generally slow the player down as choosing when to click to solve cells becomes a concern. If the player is about to end the level but has unused hearts available, removing outstanding cankers is a good use for them.

Bubble
Bubbles are seemingly good orbs. If something on the field can generate a bubble, it will be launched as a projectile and will stop when it hits a solid object on a visible cell. The object will then be encased in a bubble and begin to move around the screen. Clicking on the bubble when it is hovering over an unoccupied cell will pop the bubble and release the object. Any object can be placed in a bubble including Strangers, Landmarks, monsters, loot, and items. If a Waterboy spawns, it is not uncommon for them to encase themselves in a bubble.

Bubbles are particularly useful for smuggling items in Endless Multiverse, for moving good strangers (particularly pyros) into new stages or better positions and keeping a reserve of accessible hearts for emergencies.

If the player has a number of Waterboys on the field, the play area can quickly become very difficult to see. Bubbles are beneficial but can be a minor hassle.
