The Boneyard is a Beyond mode Emblem.
Strategy
Possibly using the Witch Mastery and the Book of Faith as a Heirloom to prevent their negative effects. Would be good if you can find a item for revealing cells, so you can get more omens in the following stages.
The successful strategy I used was Auramancer Mastery and Amber of Healing heirloom, along with the Mastery special chest and the special glint (quadruple chance of finding a special chest). The idea is to use your mastery ultimate as much as possible and build up a huge pool of life (using the sanctified cells you create), and hopefully a decent amount of defense (from naturally occurring frozen cells). You should find the occasional cursed cell to get rid of any omens you pick up. You'd especially love to see a poison cell on the barbed stage to decrease the stage power. Some additional thoughts:
- The mastery chest is quite good for this mastery, but the Ice chest is probably about as good- as long as you get 1 special chest you'd likely have enough defense for the game, barring the barbed stage. I might even change the glint to a geo (pathfinding) glint or another glint of your choice if you go this route.
- You need to be super careful with anything that reveals or kills monsters. This includes powerchording and the fire aura effect (you should probably not reveal fire cells if you are in one of the stages where revealed monsters are bad- if they aren't revealed they don't activated when you use your mastery). This also includes many normally good magic and consumable items that reveal or kill monsters.
- I wouldn't open any normal chests unless you have a cursed cell available to get rid of omens. You shouldn't actually need more items than the Amber of Healing, and some omens are just so bad.
- I don't think this strategy is too dependent on favored items. I would just try to favor some aura and survivability items at a variety of price points and see if you get lucky. Frostbite does seem particularly good.
Another strategy to consider is Bookworm Mastery with the Astral Glint (which gives you 3 starponds at the beginning of the quest). This would guarantee 3 books before the first stage, and there are several heirloom items that could guarantee extra hearts. (Special shoutout to Book of Ghosts: Hearts make spookers, spookers drop Candy, Candy drops hearts). I think there's one big caveat to this strategy: the powerchording book and the book that kills monsters could get you in a lot of trouble. I would experiment with anti-favoriting these books. You may also be able to fill up your inventory with Bones/Candy before the Haunted stages, and then I think it would be basically smooth sailing.
Drop Condition

When you use
Bones in a Graveyard Stage there is a ~1/5 chance you will obtain The Boneyard.
Skull Ring and
Gluttony can bury a huge number of bones in one click if you have a lot of missing life. You only need one open inventory slot.
You may need
Rainbow Lens, preferably with something like
Astral Spike, to clear the cells of auras; since using a bone with all spaces covered with auras doesn't trigger the drop check. Along with some sort of mana generation.
Bone Baton can be huge if you have a way to get stuff on the floor. You can try to kill two birds with one stone using Book of Ghosts as your heirloom item- once you get some Candy online you can almost always sustain the Candy effect, and the spookers will drop a lot of other stuff on the floor. (Clicking spookers in the graveyard gives a chance at Pumpkin Patch. Combine this with the bone special chest and favoring the Bone baton and you have a decent chance of getting this either at a store or on the 3rd+ stage of a beyond quest (max stage power needs to be 6+ to drop bone baton due to
Chest coin value rules).
