Tempting Fate is a Beyond mode Emblem.

"Announcing your plans is a good way to hear God laugh."

Strategy

Having  Explosive mod being so pervasive makes Tempting Fate a tough emblem to pass, as having any piece of loot potentially blow up and chain explosions to other loot can quickly lead to an accidental Game Over.

Thankfully, the additional stage mods are less stifling, although they should still be respected. Masteries like the  Detective Mastery which reveal monsters will struggle a lot with the Predatory stage mods at the latter end of the quest, requiring an item or their ultimate ability to take care of all the visible monsters before leaving to the next stage.

Drop Condition

When discharging a  Metal Detector while in a Minefield, the player has a fair chance (1/3) to obtain Tempting Fate.

The biggest limiting factor to finding the emblem is getting to the Minefield with a Metal Detector, as the stage is at the very end of the hardest quest of the main five.

Once inside, having a source of infinite mana will allow the player to safely farm for the emblem. Standard infinite mana setups would include  Glowspore alongside  Mana Tanks, or  Book of Spells and  Queen of Hearts.
