How I farmed 20k artifacts

Go Infinite

Just be infinite lol

Guide: User:Raisins/Infinite

Normal Turns Method

Setup Phase

Prepare a good stage for artifacts.

Setup Inventory

Size

Pick your target farming stage. Moderately large sized, something about 1000 cells. Modify with  Miracle Seed as needed.

Stage Mods

Go to a different stage than the target.

Look for  Meteorites with appropriate Stage Mods. We want to add difficulty without messing the farm up.

A conservative list of difficulty 2 or greater mods that are harmless to the plan:

You should probably keep your inventory full, so you don't get items from the Meteorites and accidentally use a  Transmogrify somehow.

Monster Density

You want to raise the monster density to about 70%. There are different ways to raise density, but repeatedly entering  Mystic Statue will work. Once at the correct density, carry  Rasp so that the Mystic Statues stop adding more monsters.

If the density was too high instead, find  Mjolnir and use it in a different stage to remove some monsters from the target.

Farm Phase

We have a ~1000 cell stage with a half dozen difficult mods on it, now get ready to farm.

Farming Inventory

Initialize

  • Go in the stage
  • Go in the  Mystic Statue stage
  • Use  Dynamite to destroy everything but ~5 columns at the left edge of the stage.
  • Use  Tabula Rasa to activate  Hypertrap repeatedly and flag all the monsters.
  • Summon one column of Familiars with  Banner at the far right edge
  • Summon a second column of Familiars about 5 cells closer.
  • Use  Divine Watering Can

FARM LOOP

  • Open cells on the monster side alternating up and down a few times until all columns of familiars have moved
  • Resummon a column of Familiars with  Banner at the far right edge
  • If there are hearts or chests:
  • Use  Divine Watering Can
  • Repeat FARM LOOP until there are too many familiars or you run out of cells

Reset

Thanks to LootZ for the  Traffic Cone idea.

Artificial Turns Method

These methods use an item to pass turns on demand.

Artificially passing turns is a strong possibility, but is also much less stable. Be prepared for more lag, familiars breaking frequently, and occasional crashes.

Setup Phase

Same as Normal, only you don't need any safe cells so go to maximum monster density.

Farm Phase

Initialize

  • Go in the stage
  • Go in the  Mystic Statue stage
  • Use  Dynamite to destroy everything but ~3 columns at each edge of the stage.
  • Summon one column of Familiars with  Banner
  • Use TURN_PASSING_METHOD to spread them out

FARM LOOP

  • Use  Divine Watering Can
  • Use TURN_PASSING_METHOD
    • Freeze for a bit
  • Use TURN_PASSING_METHOD a few more times to mostly clear the stage
  • Use  Heart Rod and  Iron Sceptre if neccessary
  • Repeat FARM LOOP until Familiars Break

Reset

TURN_PASSING_METHOD

Jumprope

Jumprope +  Duster is less compact but doesn't require a consumable and can be tuned to however much your computer can handle. The example inventory passes 18 turns in 3 clicks.

For now, avoid "extra move" effects like  Whip as they cause instability with passing turns.

Morning Glory

(plus  Magic Smoke Bomb/ Chaos Portal in bubbles)

Somewhat unwieldy with the manalock, but you can directly pass large numbers of turns with morning glory. This method is probably the fastest but it can be very unstable.

Do NOT have  Morning Glory in your inventory during setup phase, chances are too high you will use a  Mirror while you have a  Waterboy on the stage and you will regret it.

Quest for Rest

Some sort of  Quest for Rest +  Wishlist idea should work in theory. The  Quest for Rest status likes to end for no reason, I have not had success with it.

Low Density Setups

Ouroboros and  Electroscope can set up the stage faster than  Dynamite and  Electromancy, but the bonus loot value is capped by the low monster density. The high density method is better unless you want to go dozens of nested Mystic Statue stages deep, which is impractical for this purpose as you will need to frequently reset when the Familiars break.

Alternatively you can go deep into Endless Multiverse and raise the loot value that way, but this has its own challenges.

Familiars Break

Sometimes you will notice your Familiars have not moved, or moved only a couple spaces and have not collected anything. It IS possible to recover sometimes, by manually collecting loot, or Rod/Sceptre. You may be better off just resetting the stage right away. Even when it works you were only going to get another cycle or two anyway.

They don't always break when you do anything in particular. Things that seem to make familiars break more often:

  • Stage being complete
  • Overly packed stages
  • Too many things they cant pick up (hearts/treasure)
  • Too many familiars
  • Familiar calculation too long (passing too many turns, too much extra moves per turn, too many familiars)
