Synergies and Combos

This is a list of strong Synergies and Combos. These are sets two or three effects that produce unusually powerful, explosive or self-sustaining results.

The list is for weak effects that become very strong, or effects that become nearly infinite or degenerate. There is no need to list all items that are useful together.

Achieving one of these effects may be enough to guarantee you win the Quest. For using combinations of multiple such effects to break the game entirely, see Infinite.

Masteries

Barbarian

 Barbarian Mastery

Occultic Pendant

Item Description Cost
Occultic Pendant Whenever a monster would spawn, a stranger spawns instead. 18 coins

Kill a Stranger. Use your temporary immunity to make intentional mistakes, revealing more monsters, who are strangers. Kill them. As you kill monsters you make empty cells that automatically open the stage, solving it very quickly. Rotting Head buff should easily outpace the time you take.

Bubbler

 Bubbler Mastery

Ultimate loop

Item Description Cost
Battery Fully charge your mastery. 16 coins
Juice Gain a mastery charge. If you have activated your ultimate ability before, activate it now for free. 9 coins
  1. Get a  Battery into a bubble
  2. Use your ultimate to duplicate bubbles
  3. Pop one  Battery to recharge your ultimate
  • Repeat for unlimited copies of all your other bubbles

Also works with  Juice.

Visible monster removal

Item Description Cost
Druid Staff Tame monsters into Minions. 18 coins
Sword Kill visible monsters. (They deserve it.) 27 coins

After the initial stages, you should have some loot in bubbles. Drop this loot to reveal cells with your II ability. Then after the area is solved, use additional loot as necessary to reveal all nearby monsters so you can remove them. This makes all of the dropped loot on cells again, to be bubbled by the I ability, allowing you to reuse it on stage after stage.

Spark

 Spark Mastery

Electro Pulse

Item Description Cost
Electro Pulse Apply Electric to all cells. After 1 turn, all cells lose their auras. 14 coins

 Electro Pulse makes the entire stage electric so your ultimate kills everything, even Bosses. Insant win button for one stage. Coming as a cheap and craftable consumable and a 2 charge ultimate.

Solve

Thornseeker

Item Description Cost
Magic Spoon Whenever you consume an item, gain 50 mana. 15 coins
Thornseeker [90 Mana] If target hidden cell has a value of 3 or greater, gain 3 Minions. 31 coins

Infinite minions, solve every monster in the stage, kill as many as you want if you can hold enough minions, unlimited mana if you have excess inventory space.

Rainbow Lens

Item Description Cost
Rainbow Lens [70 Mana] Remove auras from target 5x5 area. Flag a monster for each aura removed this way. 14 coins

 Rainbow Lens targets a huge area and needs auras. After 70 mana up front, it combines with a 'Mancy item to solve 25 monsters per subsequent 70 mana. Especially degenerate with  Ethermancy, which both pays for the mana and grows the number of targets by 25 cells each cast.


Hypertrap

Item Description Cost
Enchanting Rune Magic items will trigger an extra time. 21 coins
Godmonger You may have multiple legendary items. 35 coins
Hypertrap Flag 25% of all monsters when you begin a stage. 30 coins
Tabula Rasa [200 Mana] Activate items that would trigger when you enter or begin a stage. 16 coins

 Hypertrap is a powerful item on its own, but using it multiple times on a stage is even better. If you can get it all the way to 4 activations, the stage solves itself.

Cards

Item Description Cost
Deck of Cards [200 Mana] Gain a random card item that you don't already have. 25 coins
The Joker If you use an item to target visible cells with a sum of 13 or greater, you lose. 0 coins
Wildcard Randomize your card items, including this one. 14 coins

The Card Items have a critical mass synergy.  Deck of Cards can slowly get you all of the card items.

Once you have enough cards and a  Wildcard, use available Magic cards and then randomize. Any new magic cards you get will be charged.

If you get another Wildcard you can repeat this again immediately. If you don't get Wildcard but do get Deck of Cards, it can produce Wildcard again. The "loop" ends when you get neither. Hopefully this comes after many uses of powerful magic cards.

Each Deck of Cards you see during a loop adds an additional card to the pile. You can lose cards when you roll multiple Legendary  Trump Cards. Be careful not to die to  The Joker.

Mana

Mana Tank

Item Description Cost
Mana Tank [100 Mana] Gain 200 mana. 20 coins

Useful on its own, forms a near loop with two of them. A pair becomes actually infinite mana with a further synergy, such as:

If you have a ton of lives (or are  Guardian Mastery)  Blood Magic is equivalent to Mana Tank.

Arcane Staff

Item Description Cost
Arcane Staff The first diamond you collect each turn will fully charge a random magic item. 30 coins

Useful on its own, forms loops with sources of multiple  Diamonds:

Book of Spells

Item Description Cost
Book of Spells Pick up hearts at full life to gain 100 mana. 17 coins

Useful on its own, forms loops with sources of multiple  Hearts:

These combos are especially powerful when using Bookworm Mastery.

Magic Spoon

Item Description Cost
Magic Spoon Whenever you consume an item, gain 50 mana. 15 coins

Useful on its own, forms loops with sources of multiple Consumable Items:

Super Mana Potion

Item Description Cost
Super Mana Potion Recharge all of your magic items. 30 coins

Useful on its own, forms loops with sources of item duplication

Chisel

Item Description Cost
Chisel [100 Mana] Upgrade target loot. 30 coins

Occasionally useful on its own. Chisel upgrades chests into your Special Chest, so it forms loops with some:

  •  Magic Chest
    • source of loot, preferably chests or at least hearts
    • Reasonably large stage with enough visible

Paragon Rod

Item Description Cost
Paragon Rod [400 Mana] Convert all visible loot to items. 100 coins

 Paragon Rod is a one-item combo engine. As you use it, you will almost inevitably find items that allow you to use it better and faster.

 Paragon Rod is also the ultimate combo payoff. Since it transforms loot into any item in the game, if you can use it an unlimited number of times you can get any item you want. Thus you can make any effect you want, including any other combo.
